The Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ahmed Attaf, received on Monday a phone call from the U.S. Secretary of State, Antony Blinken.
In this phone conversation, Secretary Blinken and Minister Attaf discussed the latest developments regarding the situation in Gaza, with a focus on the ongoing negotiations in the Security Council on the draft resolution put forward by the ten elected members of the UN body “E-10.”
The draft resolution calls for an “immediate, lasting, and unconditional” ceasefire in Gaza.
It is worth mentioning that Algeria, as part of the “E-10” group, initiated the aforementioned draft resolution and negotiated its content with the other members of the Security Council.
The ministry’s press release pointed out that this call took place ahead of the vote on this draft resolution, set for Monday at the Security Council.
